December 17, 2019, Tuesday

Jingle all the way!  Our new morning workshop table was magnet play with magna tiles and jingle bells.  Oh what fun it is to build with jingle bells!  We also had a mini puzzle table.  At morning meeting we counted how many days to our pageant and how many days to Christmas Eve.  Let me tell you, there are not too many!

Our snack was cucumbers, oranges and popcorn pretzel mix.  After snack, we set up a fun Run, Run Rudolph obstacle course to exercise our bodies before our visitor came for story time.  The children pranced to holiday tunes while navigating hopscotch, a tumbling mat, jumping in Santa's sleigh, playing rhythm sticks and crawling through our log cabin before starting again.  Once we got our exercise, we were ready for our special visit from Miss Cathy.  She read some fun holiday stories and played felt board games before offering a Santa craft.  We love Miss Cathy's visits!

We had a short practice with Abouna in the Sanctuary without costumes today.

After lunch we did a science project with candy canes, vinegar and baking soda.  Fizzy candy canes.  We wondered what would happen at the end of all that fizzle!  There was not too much left of the candy cane, and we had a bunch of red vinegar!  Some friends worked on their bony bodies learning about their heart and lungs.

We ended our day on the rug with a globe and a fun story about Christmas traditions around the world.  We tracked the countries on our globe to see where they were in relation to our where we live.  It was fun to hear about different traditions that people enjoy around the world.  Perhaps your child will remember some of them.
