May newsletter packet went home today.
We are so excited about our new units! Be sure to check out our little eggs in the new science room.
Today the children we so helpful in resetting the school from the art show! They explored centers, had morning meeting where we met Chelsea Chicken (cluck, cluck) discussed the little eggs and new units and learned a silly new song (Mother Gooney Bird). Then we had snack, recess, lunch, listened to a fun story and worked in journals.
EMMANUEL DAY SCHOOL
GRADUATION 2017
Dear Families,
After much reflection, research and discussion, the teachers and I feel strongly that the format of our traditional graduation show is not developmentally appropriate for 3 and 4 year old children.
After much reflection, research and discussion, the teachers and I feel strongly that the format of our traditional graduation show is not developmentally appropriate for 3 and 4 year old children.
We want their final
days here at Emmanuel to be meaningful, and we believe that routine daily
practice for a graduation show (memorizing lines and songs) is not in the best
interest for our children. Instead, we want to spend the remaining days
exploring the outdoors, using our new gardens, participating in enriching field
trips and continuing our learning journey together!!
That being said... we
feel the best way to commemorate the end of the year is by hosting a Graduation
Celebration in combination with our End of the Year Picnic!
At 5pm on June 7th in the school, we will have our Graduation Celebration which will consist of the procession, singing two of our favorite patriotic songs, and finishing with the ever-popular RUNDOWN! Then we head outside to a surprise musical guest and traditional end of the year cookout.
This will not only make the event more meaningful, it will streamline the festivities and make it easier for many working families to participate.

That means EDS will
be closed for the summer starting June 8th.
THANK YOU for your
support and cooperation! If you have any questions or comments, we will be
discussing this tomorrow at the Parent Advisory Board meeting at 1pm.
Looking forward to
another amazing end to our school year!
Thank you for all you do!
