May 15, 2019, Wednesday

Butterflies and Bunnies, that is what today was all about!  What wonderful memories our friends are making together...tracking our yard bunny, we named Carrot, and watching our butterflies emerge from their chrysalis!  We have two butterflies in our tent today.  We shall see how many more in the morning.  We will keep them in the tent until Friday so all our friends have a chance to see them before we release them to the wild.  Hopefully Friday will be a sunny day and not a stormy day.  We learned something new about butterflies.  It looked as if a butterfly was bleeding, as red liquid had come out of it.  The liquid is called meconium.   Meconium is the leftover part of the caterpillar that was not needed to make the butterfly. This is stored in the intestine of the butterfly and expelled after the butterfly emerges.  Amazing!

Our morning workshop tables were dino bones silhouettes and journal books.

Snack today was Cheese rectangles and wheat sticks.  After snack we went outdoors to catch some of that bright sunshine while we could!

After lunch we read WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DINOSAURS and BUTTERFLIES ARE PATIENT.  We practiced our graduation show on the stage today.  Our friends are very excited for our big day!
