At morning meeting we shared our stories about what was special about our holiday time. We introduced the letter D and Danced to the Animal Action Song.
Our snack today was cheese nip crackers, cheese sticks and blueberries.
For center time we read the story 10 DOGGIES IN THE WINDOW. After our story we discussed what pets are. We worked on our Letter D page in our HWT workbooks and drew pictures in our journals. Ms. Sarah worked with some friends in our new animal shelter and introduced the many different ways we can play in the center and how to use all of the new interesting tools.
We went outdoors for recess today. We have been fortunate this school year with so many unseasonably warm days to play outside!
After lunch we met in the math room for some shape review. We talked about all of the shapes that have been featured on our bulletin board so far, and then looked at the shapes that have not been on our board. Our friends shared ideas of what shapes we could feature for our pet unit. We then put three different shapes on the floor and each friend got to vote on our next shape by lining up behind the shape of their choice. It was decided that we would use a pentagon this month as a house and we will feature a different pet in it each week. This is a fine example of how we involve the children in our planning. After that we all participated in a shape matching game.
We ended our day outdoors in the sunshine.
