February 2, 2018, Groundhog Friday

Happy Groundhog Friday.  I think most of us predicted that Punxsutawney Phil would see his shadow!  We continued our shadow play today, and read a wonderful book called GROUNDHUG DAY.  We learned a new word, silhouette from our story.   Miss Kate decided it would be fun to trace the silhouette of our friends' heads. We also continued our Super Bowl party today.  The majority predicted that the Eagles are going to win the trophy.  Our snack was oranges and nachos.  We enjoyed some corn with pizza...it was a hit!  Valentine homework was sent home in folders today.  You will find a fun necklace with a loving message tied to it.  Simply read the message to your child and return it to school for a new one.  We thought during this season of love this would be a nice reminder that everyone smiles when they hear how much they are cared for and loved.  Sadly, we had two more friends out with a bug.  Thankfully we have had no reports of a full blown flu.  We continued work on our Valentine mailboxes and secret valentines.  Today we made dots in honor of our last day with letter D.  We went outside for only the last 20 minutes of the day.  Burrr bundle up. It is chilly.

Robot arms.

I assure you, we had plenty of heat in the school.  Do not be fooled by the hat and gloves.  Sometimes we come in so cozy, it takes awhile to part with our outerwear.
What is hiding in that tall tower?
A bunch of creative planning goes into these magna tile creations.
 Race cars for this box!

Taking a picture of the creation and that wonderful prideful look!

How many cars are under there?
Find your name and make your prediction for the Super Bowl win.
Super Bowl predictions... read them and weep....
Look, I can make a D with my fingers.

This was a really great story I highly recommend.

 So fun!
We sang:  Goundhog, Groundhog, hiding underground, pop right up and look around.  Will he stay or will he go?  This is something we want to know!

Everyone got a turn to be the groundhog and to be the sunshine.

 Can you guess this silhouette?
How about this one?
