Monet is our first featured artist. We introduced Monet's works at morning meeting. We talked about the colors and the beautiful lily pads and water lilies that he liked to paint. Our friends will be creating some Monet-like mixed media pictures with paint and cut paper. We had our tweet and greet and danced to It's A Beautiful Day by Greg and Steve.
Snack today was roasted kale chips, sliced fresh apples, carrots and hummus. After snack we read The Lion and The Little Red Bird, which paired nicely with our letter L week and our new art unit as the lion in the story mysteriously appears from his den each day with a different colored paint on his tail to the little red bird's wonder. We then went into our work groups and worked on our Letter L page. Friends that completed their page yesterday, worked in their journals.
We went outdoors for recess today. We rode bikes, see-sawed, played in the sand, and made a giant letter L in the lawn with our hopper stones and hopped about. The warm weather has brought the chalk back outside too.
After lunch we worked on our art show projects which included fairy tale paper dolls, water color exploration, and Monet-like pictures.
