With recent events at Newport and Middletown Public Schools, the Newport Daily News is reporting that police are conducting drive-by's and perimeter checks on all public and private schools in Newport. These checks do include Emmanuel Day School. With that in mind, please be assured that we take the current climate very seriously and are on high alert for safety and security at Emmanuel. As always doors are locked day and night and no one unknown is allowed on campus. Please be advised that if Newport Public Schools close (for any reason, threats or weather related, we will also be closed.) Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.
On a lighter note! Here is some information about upcoming events that we hope we see you at!
Please send in a shoe box to decorate for a Valentine mailbox by Friday. Students will complete their own valentine cards at home and bring them into school to exchange them in the mailboxes. We have 36 students. We will exchange Valentine's throughout the week.
SUNDAY BARN DANCE- The Barn Dance is a good old fashion Square Dance with the Newport Strings. It is in the school from 3pm5pm. Wear your favorite Western outfit and cowboy boots. No sign up necessary.
TUESDAY, PANCAKE SUPPER- The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper is also know at Fat Tuesday, It is a reminder that Christians are entering a season of penance and was originally a solemn Day. Over the centuries it has evolved into a festive celebration in anticipation of the Lenten fast that would begin the next day. We will indulge in pancakes and sweet treats, games and celebrations before Lent begins on Wednesday. The pancake supper is at EDS from 5:30-7pm. Stop in for a yummy dinner and games! No sign up necessary.
FRIDAY, EDS CHILI COOK-OFF! Due to a snag with town cook-off we decided to host our very own, we will NOT be at the Hyatt on the 13th! We are combining the traditional ice cream social event with a family chili cook off. People can enter their favorite recipe and bring it along in a crock pot. Families, friends and alumni are welcome to stop in between 4-6pm to sample the different family chili's , hear some valentine music and eat some sweet Valentine treats (we will have an ice cream station!)
