October 20th

Good Afternoon,

It was a chilly but beautiful day! Don't forget to dress for the weather!

The Students: explored centers, created patterns, participated in calendar routines at morning meeting, learned the new letter of the week S, sang the EDS Halloween Ball song, played outside, worked on costumes for the Halloween show, made spider hand print patterns, traced cut and decorated a letter S with thumbprint spiders, played a math game, listened to Halloween stories.

Scholastic book order- I will be submitting our online order by the end of the week.

Pumpkin Parade-
We are so excited to see your jack-o-lanterns. I would suggest instead of carving the pumpkin from the top carving them from the bottom so even can sit them over the tea light for our parade.

How to preserve pumpkins from Miss Jordan:
After you scoop out and carve your pumpkin, dip it in a large container of bleach and water (use a 1 tsp:1 gal mix). The bleach will kill bacteria and help your pumpkin stay fresh longer. Once completely dry, (drain upside down), add 2 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to a quart of water. Brush this solution onto your pumpkin to keep it looking fresh for weeks.
