Field Trip Alert!!
Please note the change! Our field trip has been RESCHEDULED due to the predicted rain on Thursday to FRIDAY, October 17th. Meet at EDS at 11:30 if walking or join us on Queen Anne's Square at 12 for our picnic. Friday families, we will still have pizza Friday as our picnic on the square. Nikolas will deliver to us there. Please let me know if you are planning to attend, if you cannot make it we will pick a pumpkin for you! :)
Jack-o-lantern Family Assignment: Each family is asked to create at least one jack-o-lantern (the more the merrier) and return them to EDS by Wednesday, October 22nd. We will light all them the jack-o-lanterns to by displayed during our Evening Pumpkin Parade!
EDS Evening Pumpkin Parade will take place Thursday, October 23rd from 6:30-7 in the Emmanuel Church Yard. Refreshments will be served in the library. This event is open to all so spread the word! Students at encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. We are looking for parent volunteers to act as "lantern lighters" to monitor our pumpkins and keep them lit all night. We are also looking for parent volunteers to help at the refreshment table. We are so excited about this new community event!
EDS Halloween Show: Friday, October 31st at 1:30pm for all EDS families. If you do not normally attend school on Fridays please mark your calendars all students are encouraged to join! The children have been working very hard to create their costumes and learn new poems for the Halloween Show! Hope you and your family can attend. Please send in any empty Kleenex boxes for costume parts.
Today our first EDS book of friends called Apples on Top went home. The students have been working hard to create an apple counting book of friends. Each child will get to take this book home to share with their families. Students are asked to return the book on their next school day. Pease handle with care and enjoy!

The Students: explored centers, made a giant birthday card, enjoyed the stories, songs and crafts provided by Miss Kathy from the Newport Public Library, played outside, had a visit from Miss Terri, had chapel with Miss Jordan, listened to Halloween stories, had a very successful fire drill, acted out the five little pumpkins poem and celebrated a birthday!
